Sunburst

Sunburst tangerines are a cross between Clementine, Orlando Tangelo and an Osceola. Like the brilliant sunburst which it is named, this deep reddish orange fruit is as pleasing to the eye as to the palate. Sunburst tangerines have a thin smooth skin which make them easy to peel and enjoy. The flesh is a deep orange color and they contain some seeds.

How to Select

Select a tangerine that is round, firm and heavy in size. The skin should be smooth with a deep reddish orange color.  Skin blemishes or other minor flaws on the skin does not affect the eating quality of the fruit.  Tangerines do not continue to ripen once they are harvested.

How to Store

Tangerines will last much longer under refrigeration. Store in the refrigerator, away from vegetables for up to two weeks.  They can be stored at a cool room temperature for four to five days.
